Witchcraft, in most contexts, is the use of supernatural powers. A witch is a practitioner of witchcraft. It was believed many years ago that practitioners of witchcraft were evil and used thier powers to harm others. In the mid-20th century, it was split between good and evil. The good was mostly used for mystical healing.

Spell casting
Spell casting is probably the most obvious characteristic of a practitioner of witchcraft. Spell casting is the ability to use a word to signify the means employed to carry out a magical act. A spell could consist of various words, a ritual, a magical concoction or a combination of these. Sarah, Nancy, Bonnie and Rochelle each cast different spells for themselves. Rochelle cast a spell to not hate those who hated her, this resulted in Laura Lizzie's hair to fall out. This backfired and resulted in her to feel guilty about Laura's condition. Sarah cast a spell to make Chris Hooker (who spread a lie around school that they two slept together) love her. This backfired and caused him to become obsessed with her and the more his lust grew for her the more insane he behaved which led to him attempting to rape her. Bonnie cast a spell to be beautiful inside and out. This backfired and resulted in making her more narsassistic and arrogant every day. Finally, Nancy cast a spell to take in the power of Manol, a supreme god. This backfired, making Nancy to become insane, angry and mean.

Historical witchcraft
Probably the most well-known act of witchcraft was the Salem Witch Trials. Held in Salem (and other various places in both England and the New England Colonies). Women were accused of casting harmful spells on others in the village, so they were persecuted, burned at the stake more commonly, otherwise, they were hung. The tirals spread throughout the New England Colonies and Ipswich Colonies. The trials began in 1692 and ended in 1693.

Magic
Magic is also a well-known and obvious characteristic of a witch. Magic is the ability to produce a desired effect or result through the use of an incantation or various other techniques. Sarah was the first to display any magical effects as she telekinetically rotated a pencil on it's tip. Nancy was also a well-trained user of magic, most notably, when she pushed Chris Hooker out of a window without the use of physical contact, or making her microwave blow up.

The girls (mostly Sarah and Nancy) used "glamours". Glamouring is the ability to create an illusion so real, that it is to fool an on-looker. Sarah was the first to peform a glamour when she made her hair blonde. Nancy also seemed to be very skilled in glamouring as she made her appear to Chris as Sarah to fool him, or when she made Sarah think her entire house was being invaded by snakes, mice and insects. Sarah was able to use magic to bind Nancy, Bonnie and Rochelle's magical abilities because of their misuse of them.

Witchcraft

Witchcraft is a very powerful form of sorcery that channels its power from the elements and forces of Nature. Witchcraft is described as the practice of psionic powers that encompasses many different activities including astrology, divination, spell casting, and spirit communication. It includes the practices of many cultures, nations, and religions as well as many books and writings from ancient times. Depending upon the individual, some witches practice their power by certain belief systems, such as Druidism, Shamanism, Wicca and a number of many other magical practices from countries and cultures all around the world.

The Threefold Law

The Threefold Law is a spiritual belief system based around the observations of the Cosmos and the reverence of Mother Nature. The Threefold Law is intimately tied to the metaphysical energies of the Universe and the idea that all things (i.e. animals, humans, plants, etc.) are all considered sacred, as they are all different aspects of Nature that are all interconnected. Contemporary witches would also agree that using ancient ceremonies, rituals and shamanic practices is the best way to attune themselves with the natural rhythms of the Universe in their efforts to obtain guidance and knowledge from Higher Powers. According to a rather intelligent witch named Lirio, the Threefold Law was created by the Old Gods as a means to ensure that the Natural Order remains balanced, informing Sarah Bailey that "Life keeps a balance all on its own".

The known users of witchcraft are witches who can perform magic as well.
